Not sharing sensitive information from confrontation sites while protecting themselves at the same time
The Board for the Defense of Freedom and Journalists’ Rights, affiliated with the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate, is closely monitoring media work in the Kurdistan Region and the journalists who have been sent to Western Kurdistan. It has issued the following guidelines so that everyone abides by them:
First:
All correspondents, cameramen, and their assistants must follow the principles of professional safety and protect themselves from the dangers and risks of war zones.
Second:
In case communication networks between media institutions and correspondents are cut, a prior plan must be prepared for meeting points, alternative locations, and any other means of contacting each other.
Third:
Under no circumstances should correspondents go to the front lines of the war.
Fourth:
During live broadcasts, the geographical locations and the names of the battlefronts must not be disclosed or shown.
Fifth:
Correspondents must not publish, in any way, information about defense methods, types of weapons, or the geographical positions of war areas, nor show the faces of certain officials, without obtaining prior permission.
With hopes for professional and safe media work for all journalists.
