This afternoon, March 11, 2025, the Committee for the Protection of Press Freedom and Journalists’ Rights, along with the Independent Human Rights Team of the Sulaymaniyah Office, visited detained journalist Bashdar Baziani at the Sulaymaniyah General Security Directorate.
The team spent over an hour with Bashdar Abubakr, inquiring about his situation and gathering information regarding the nature and process of the investigation. They also had discussions with the investigation officer, who assured the team that all legal procedures were being carefully followed and that all activities were being conducted within the legal framework. Additionally, they mentioned that several of Baziani’s family members had visited him and confirmed his health and living conditions.
The visiting team consisted of Hendren Ahmed, the head of the Press Freedom Committee of the Kurdistan Journalists’ Syndicate, alongside committee members Karwan Anwar and Samko Abdulkarim. From the Independent Human Rights Team, Sabeer Abdullah Karim, the head of the Sulaymaniyah Office, was also present during the visit.
