The Congress on the Future of Media and Communication, held under the theme “From Censorship to Freedom and Change”, took place on 19–21 September 2025 in Amman, the capital of Jordan.
Around 500 media professionals from across the world participated in the congress, which was organized with the support of UNESCO, the International Federation of Journalists (IFJ), and Amnesty International.
Over the course of three days, the congress hosted 33 separate panels, fostering broad discussions on the challenges facing the journalism profession, censorship of journalists, and the roles of governments, civil society, media outlets, and journalists’ unions.
From the Kurdistan Region, Azad Hama-Damin, head of the Kurdistan Journalists Syndicate, joined as a speaker in the panel on Journalists’ Syndicates, addressing their future role amid the rapid advances in technology—particularly artificial intelligence and social media.
This was the third edition of the congress, organized by the Center for the Defense of Freedom of Journalists in Jordan.
